We are so thankful for the week we have had and everything God has done. La Iglesia Bautista de Honduras opened their doors for us to have our final day of clinic, and we got to see many families from the community.
In physical therapy, Katelyn and Kelsey saw patients post-stroke and with shoulder pain. One of the patients who had shoulder pain lifted her arm in celebration when she was walking out of the clinic. It was really exciting seeing her rejoice and feel more comfortable moving! And shoutout Katelyn who had made a splint for a patient who had weakness and spasticity in her arm. It was not an easy task, but she made it a perfect fit for our patient. It has been absolutely wonderful getting to learn from all our physical therapists. Today, Emma got to get hands-on clinical experience on a subluxed rib under the supervision of Holly!
Over at the PA station, we were kept busy seeing and treating so many patients. We did an ultrasound on a pregnant patient and were able to visualize the healthy baby. Avery treated the patient for hypertension and pre-eclampsia, making sure she had all the necessary vitamins and education to have a happy and healthy pregnancy. We got creative with our limited resources, treating gastritis caused by H pylori, altering Quad therapy. Emily was able to practice her procedural skills by injecting lidocaine and doing an incision to drain an abscess. Nicole was able to auscultate her patients lungs, diagnosing and treating community acquired pneumonia. Kendall and John have been amazing at providing the best patient care, teaching us, and taking care of Margot. Dr. Margot has also been the biggest blessing at clinic! She has brought so many smiles to people’s faces.
Christina has been holding it down at triage. We are so grateful for her direction and for her sending us patients. And of course, Dr. Bob has been doing anything and everything to help us out. His wisdom, leadership, and the way he has loved us during this trip has been evident and very much appreciated.
Leigh Ann has been in both the physical therapy and evangelism stations this week, and it has been really special getting to learn from her in both of these areas. We are really thankful for all of the ways she has poured into us and explained everything so clearly. We truly have grown so much because of all of our leaders and everything God has taught us!
When we were talking with patients, many of them said they were not Christians, so we wanted to be faithful to share the Gospel with them. We encouraged them with the Word and prayed that they would draw closer to Him. They were very receptive to prayer, so please continue to lift them up and know the gift of grace we have because of Jesus.
When we got back to clinic, we celebrated Nicole’s birthday with some cake from a local bakery. Kendall got creative and made her a massive, beautiful birthday sign with an extra drape from clinic. We are so happy that we got to celebrate our sweet friend!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY, NICOLE!!
We praise God for this week and all of the clinics we got to have!! We have loved getting to be here and are very thankful for this opportunity. May God receive all of the glory!
Con benediciones,
PA/PT Crew (Team Name Coming Tomorrow!)
