It was such an amazing day! God brought so many people (including the sweetest kids) out to clinic in Baní del toro, and the people were so welcoming to us being there. We got to spend intentional time with each patient, which was a huge blessing to get to hear their concerns and respond to them even through using two translators to speak three languages (Spanish, Creole, and English). Some of the health issues they were dealing with included low back pain, rashes, diabetes, high blood pressure, asthma, hernias, UTIs, and cysts. We were thankfully able to start them on some treatments and provide them with some relief, but please be praying for continued healing over everyone there today.
While we were providing treatment, it was amazing how God opened the door for us to have conversations with them about Jesus and how He came to save us. Not only does He care for our physical needs, but He also wants a relationship with us. Many were really wanting to have that conversation and hear the Gospel, and two people declared that they wanted to begin a relationship with God today. It was so special that God let us be part of that moment with them and point them to a church family. There were many members of the church there today, so we got to point them to other people to connect with. One of the members shared his story about coming to Jesus after being affiliated with voodoo and how Jesus changed everything for him, including healing the disease he had in his skin. José, the pastor of the church, and his wife Virginia were also with us today and were so supportive and encouraging to us. AND clinic queen Margot, who is the daughter of two of our physicians, John and Kendall, was the best 17-month-old ever!
Please continue to be praying for our time in the clinic and for the hearts of our team and those we will get to meet. We cannot wait for day two in the clinic!!
Dios te bendiga,
