Hello friends,
We spent today in the village of Los Olivares. We set up a clinic in the church building there, and you can imagine our glee to realize it had air conditioning (while there was power, that is). We saw patients of all ages today, from in the womb to eighty years old. We were encouraged by the many believers who came to see us as patients and shared their faith with us. We pray they were encouraged in Christ as well. We also greatly rejoice with the four people who chose to follow Jesus today while talking with Dr. Brandon, Mrs. Marie and Dr. Day. Alongside them, Mikayla and Hannah learned some Spanish and got to put it into practice! With his last patient before lunch, Dr. Brandon had the privilege of explaining that Jesus himself connects us to God and fills us with the Holy Spirit. Don’t worry–while he was hearing that young man’s story and telling him how Jesus can change it we made sure to save him a sandwich. We had another house call today and were heartbroken yet deeply encouraged by the loving care of a young man for his own brother following a motorcycle accident. This community has set a beautiful example for us of living as an unguarded family who helps each other and asks for help. We have much to learn from them.
This evening, Christina encouraged us with John 15. Our identity as new creatures in Christ means we are clean. Knowing God leads to obeying God leads to loving God leads to abiding in God leads to bearing fruit for God which ultimately leads to our chief end of glorifying God and enjoying Him forever. Please pray that our team would abide in Jesus. Pray for our new brothers and sisters that became a part of the family of God today.
In Christ,
Sadie and the team
