Wow! What a fun day! We got to sleep in today before gearing up for our rest and recreation day! Our team (except our sweet Dr. George) traveled to Catalina Island bright and early and spent the whole day out on the water. We began our journey by traveling to a coral reef where we dropped anchor to jump off the boat and snorkel. Then, we traveled around to a cliff jump and enjoyed some joyous time in the water. Finally, we went to the shoreline for the rest of the morning and afternoon! We enjoyed swimming, walking along the beach, sunbathing, chatting, resting, and a delicious buffet lunch. Many of us enjoyed shopping for jewelry made by local artisans, eating local fresh-caught seafood including 3 fish, one large red snapper, some garlic grilled shrimp, and drinking fresh pineapple juice served inside the fruit! The island even had 30 minute massages which were a popular attraction for our group. We had great weather all day – it was warm and bright with some cloud coverage that kept it from getting too hot. Along with the cloud coverage came about 45 minutes of light rain on the island which was quite refreshing, enjoyable, and calming. At around 3:30, we got back on the boat and began our journey back to the mainland and back to score. We finished out our Friday with a delicious dinner, 45 minutes of praise and worship, a final trip to Lily House for some sweet treats, and prayer over Christina and her return to the DR for the month of June. We are feeling rested, filled by the spirit, and thankful for our time here in the DR. We are praising the Lord for no bad sunburns and no seasickness today and asking for his provision in safe travels as we return home tomorrow.

Today started with a great worship session, devotion with Aaron and splitting into our day’s groups for prayer. We partnered with the church in San Pedro with Spencer and Emily (PA-C) in one group and Mark, Carson and Dr. George in the other medical group and Kate, Lauren and Christina P were all with Leigh Ann in PT. Today, both PT and PA groups treated more people than previous days and had great Christ-centered, emotional conversations. Aaron was with Ben (SCORE) and Gabi (local pastor) and got to be a part of 2 women receiving the gospel! After a long day, the bus ride home was filled with everyone spontaneously singing worship with only our voices. It was awesome. Then we went straight to dinner, worship and small groups. The night ended with delicious dessert from the Lily House and meaningful reflective conversation about what we’ve learned medically and spiritually from our providers and how we take everything we’ve learned home with us in the next few days. We are excited to rest tomorrow at Catalina island and be in awe of God’s great creation.
WHAT A JOYOUS DAY! Today, we woke up to worship, devotion with Kate, and split into prayer groups. After breakfast, we got to El Peñon and Mark and Christina. P. triaged patients into the clinic. George, Spencer and Katie had great conversations with patients that opened up about their depression, anxiety and questions about Jesus. Lauren, Kate and Leigh Anne (PT) were able to treat not only people from the village but our team translators and providers. Carson and Emily (PA-C) got to actually treat the bus driver’s physical and spiritual needs. Aaron and Gabi (local pastor) had a meaningful conversation with a woman who had heard the gospel multiple times but actually felt prompted by the Spirit to come to Jesus today! We came home and took a quick dip in the pool before delicious dinner. We went to Lily House for a delicious desert then split for some rich small groups. Conversation was so full of love, confession and encouragement. We ended the night with some laughs and jokes with the whole group. Praise Jesus for the team, friends and people here in the DR.
