Bobby Parks is originally from Birmingham, Alabama. He attended Mississippi State University where he received a BA in psychology. But the most significant thing about his time there was that it was during his freshman year that he came to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.
During the following three years, he had the privilege of influencing his brother, Benny (now a PCA pastor), his sister Beverly, and his parents, Bob and Ann, and helping them come to a faith in Christ. Upon graduation he joined the staff of Campus Crusade for Christ (now Cru). He spent four years working among university students on campuses in Texas and Georgia.
In 1978, he married Jan and only 18 months into marriage they moved to Johannesburg, South Africa as missionaries with Cru. The first three years he was the Campus Director at Wits University, where he had the opportunity to disciple many medical and dental students. In the following years he served as National Campus Director in South Africa until 1992 and spent 6 years as the National Training Coordinator, responsible for training all of the Cru staff in South Africa.
In 1994 Bobby and Jan began a ministry to business and professional people in Cape Town. They also started the FamilyLife ministry in Cape Town, speaking often on marriage and parenting, and training other speakers.
In 2002, Bobby and Jan moved back to the United States and came on staff with Briarwood Presbyterian Church, where Bobby took the role of Executive Director for Christian Medical Ministry of Alabama.
Bobby and Jan have two daughters, Beth Ann and Nicki, both born and raised in South Africa (they are truly “African-Americans”), love Jesus and are now married. Bobby and Jan love helping people mature in Christ and achieve balance in life. They especially enjoy doing premarital counseling together and helping people learn to manage their money through biblical principles.
